Najib Razak’s wife Rosmah was also convicted in a bribery case

Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, who was convicted of corruption, was also found guilty of soliciting and accepting bribes. A High Court judge found the country’s former first lady guilty on Thursday.
According to the BBC, Rosmah Mansour was charged with three charges related to a 194 million ringgit financial scam involving a solar energy project. But he was denying the allegations.

Rosmah Mansour has also been charged with money laundering and tax evasion.

Recently, the former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak was sentenced to 12 years by the country’s court. He was sent to jail after his appeal to the High Court was rejected. He was earlier given this sentence in 2020. The 69-year-old Razak is accused of embezzling billions of US dollars from Malaysian state fund One Malaysia Development Berhad (OneMDB). A court of the country sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment on July 28, 2020 for this crime. At the same time, he was also fined around 50 million US dollars.

A Malaysian court found Najib Razak guilty of all seven charges in the OneMDB corruption case. The sentence is pronounced separately for each charge. Najib was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined on one charge of abuse of power. He was also sentenced to 10 years each on three counts of criminal breach of trust and 10 years each on three counts of money laundering. It is said in the judgment that Najib’s sentences will run concurrently. As a result, he will have to serve a maximum of 12 years in jail.
