Real’s Marcelo is now at Olympiakos

Marcelo tearfully bid farewell to Real Madrid after ending a 15-year relationship. As he cried himself, he also made Real’s supporters cry. Marcelo wanted to renew his contract at Real for another year. He wanted to retire from this club. But he couldn’t do it because the club showed no interest in renewing the contract. However, he did not want to return to Brazil so quickly. So Real ended the chapter and was looking for a new club. Got a new club. Greek club Olympiakos has drawn Brazilian star defender Marcelo.

Olympiakos confirmed the 34-year-old left-back on their website on Saturday. Calling Marcelo a legend, the team tweeted, ‘A true legend of football has joined Olympiakos. Welcome to Olympiakos.’

Olympiakos’ statement did not provide details of the deal. However, according to media reports, Marcelo has signed a one-year contract with Olympiakos. There is also an option to extend the term for another year, although that will depend on Marcelo’s wishes.
In the new season of the Greek Super League, Olympiakos is third with one win and four draws in two matches. Even if the contract is completed, it is unlikely to see Marcelo on the field now. The Brazilian left-back is scheduled to start his Olympiakos journey against Nantes in the Europa League on September 8.

The defender, who joined Real from Fluminense in 2007, has won a record 25 trophies for the Madrid club. His last match for Real was the Champions League final on May 28. Marcelo tasted his sixth La Liga and fifth Champions League victory last season. Marcelo has played 546 matches in Real’s jersey in all competitions.
