Thursday Night Football: Live Updates of Packers vs. Cardinals

The NFL season kicks off tonight with a rematch of the 2008 NFC Championship Game. The Arizona Cardinals, led by head coach Ken Whisenhunt and quarterback Kurt Warner, will face off against Green Bay Packers, led by head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Tune in to ESPN for live updates from Lambeau Field!

6:20 – The Packers receive the ball first to open this game. Rodgers is sacked on third down after a short gain, and Crosby kicks off for Green Bay.

7:00 – Arizona receives the kick-off, which bounces out of bounds at its own 6 yard line. Warner’s throw on 4th down is intercepted by Woodson.

6:00 – Rodgers is sacked by Dockett for a huge loss, and Green Bay’s attempt at a field goal falls short of the goal post! Arizona takes over on its own 1 yard line after a 12 yard punt.

8:20 – Warner completes an 8 yard pass to Fitzgerald, but then throws an interception to Barnett on the next play. Green Bay’s Crosby kicks off again after a long 12 yard return by WR Jordy Nelson.

10:04 – Rodgers holds onto a high snap and throws a pass for Jennings, which is intercepted by Patrick Peterson on the Arizona 38 yard line! Great opportunity for the Cardinals’ offense to get going early in this game.

11:38 – Beanie Wells rushes for 9 yards on 2nd down, but fumbles after another short run. Defensive holding is called against the Packers, giving Arizona an automatic 1st down.

12:50 – Warner completes a 26 yard pass to Fitzgerald! An unnecessary roughness penalty by Arizona moves the ball to Green Bay’s 12 yard line.

15:00 – Green Bay’s defense has done a good job working against the run so far, but it looks like they’re going to let Warner complete some passes in the flats. We’ll see if that ends up being costly for them.

15:00 – The Cardinals’ offense has been a pretty good unit over the last couple of years, and they go into tonight’s opener as one of two undefeated teams. It should be an interesting first half to see how the Packers’ defenders match up against Warner & Co.

15:01 – Beanie Wells breaks free for a 35 yard run, but is tackled by S Nick Collins after a gain of 6.

15:03 – I keep seeing OLB Clay Matthews in the backfield on running plays, which is great for Green Bay’s defensive line… they’ve done an excellent job stopping the Cardinals’ rush so far this game!

15:04 – A screen pass to Wells is successful for Arizona, and the Cardinals are now in Green Bay territory.

15:05 – Kurt Warner throws an incomplete pass on 3rd down, but Packers’ CB Tramon Williams was called for interference during the play. 1st & 10 at the 27 yard line of Green Bay…

15:06 – The Cardinals slowly move towards the end zone, with the help of a pass to rookie WR Early Doucet. Kickoff time for tomorrow’s game between the Seahawks & Panthers has been declared!

15:08 – Beanie Wells takes another hand off and rumbles through Green Bay’s defense for an 8 yard touchdown. After the extra point is good by Feely, Arizona leads 7-0 with 13:43 left in the first quarter.

15:12 – Green Bay gets on the board after a huge kickoff return by Donald Driver! Rodgers completes a 16 yard pass to Nelson on 3rd & 5, moving the ball all the way down to Arizona’s 8 yard line.
