Kim Yo Jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has told the South Korean president to keep his mouth shut. Earlier, the South’s President Yoon Suk-yeol offered to help North Korea through denuclearization.
He first presented this ‘adventurous plan’ last May. On the occasion of the first 100 days of taking office, the South Korean president mentioned the proposal again in a press conference on Wednesday (August 17).
In a message published by state news agency KCNA, Kim Yo Jong said it would have been more helpful for him to keep his mouth shut. When he can’t say anything good, it’s better not to say nonsense.
He said Yoon Suk-yo was too “naive and childish” to offer economic support in exchange for North Korea’s respect and nuclear weapons. No one can play with our fortune in exchange for flour and cake.
South Korea’s unification minister said Kim Yo Jong’s speech was disrespectful and rude. Yoon Suk-Yo said that if North Korea stops building nuclear weapons and starts disarmament, North Korea will receive economic aid in stages. In addition, he is seen emphasizing on increasing
South Korea’s military resistance against North Korea’s threat.
South Korea is going to start joint military exercises with the United States, which have been suspended for a long time, next week.
A US State Department spokesperson said on Wednesday that Washington supports Yoon Sook-yo’s policy. But Kim Yo Jong said that while the United States and South Korea are conducting military exercises, it is nothing but hypocrisy to seek a solution through diplomacy.
